Health authorities on Wednesday reported 377 new cases of dengue in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, highlighting a continuing public health concern amid the ongoing outbreak.

A spokesperson for the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) stated, “We recorded 377 fresh cases of dengue in the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m. today.”

According to the DGHS, of the 377 new cases, 27 were reported in Barisal division, 55 in Chattogram division, 76 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 58 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 88 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Other affected areas included 28 cases in Khulna division, 19 in Mymensingh division, 21 in Rajshahi division, two in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.

Since the start of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded 401 deaths and 99,082 reported cases. By comparison, last year’s outbreak claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people across the country.

Health officials continue to urge citizens to take preventive measures, including eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, using mosquito repellents, and seeking immediate medical attention if symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, or joint pain appear.
