Football fans have rushed in the third phase of 2026 World Cup ticket sales. FIFA reported that nearly 5 million ticket applications were submitted within the first 24 hours of the window opening. Surprisingly, matches featuring Lionel Messi’s Argentina or Neymar’s Brazil are not at the top of demand. Instead, the highest demand is for the group-stage match between Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal and Colombia.

The Portugal-Colombia clash will take place on June 27 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. At 40 years old, this is likely Ronaldo’s final World Cup, which has fueled extraordinary excitement around the game. Additionally, the large Colombian immigrant community in South Florida has driven ticket demand to sky-high levels.

According to FIFA, the second-highest demand is for the Brazil vs Morocco match on June 13 in New York/New Jersey. Mexico vs South Korea ranks third, followed by Ecuador vs Germany in fourth place.

Most applicants are supporters from host countries—the United States, Mexico, and Canada. However, if Argentina tops their group, Lionel Messi could be seen playing in Miami in the Round of 32, which is expected to further increase ticket demand for the stadium.
